Deciem ‘The Ordinary’ Haul & First Impressions

Today I have a very exciting post for you! I finally placed my first order through Deciem, the cult hit skincare company that has a brand for anything and everything. One of their most notable sub-brands is The Ordinary, which has remarkably affordable prices with laboratory grade ingredients. Seriously, they had me at all the scientific jargon. (Don’t worry, I won’t torture y’all with that. Today.) I’ve been using them for a couple weeks, so it’s still a bit too early to give a full review. But I did want to share my thoughts on them, so let’s get into it!

Deciem The Ordinary Haul

What I Purchased from The Ordinary

First things first, I’ve been obsessed with skincare treatments. Peels, exfoliants, vitamin C, you name it. And when I saw the prices, I decided to fill out my skincare regimen with more targeted products.

I’m about halfway through my Mario Badescu Glycolic Grapefruit Cleansing Lotion, so I decided to opt for the Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution ($8.70), which is meant to be used only at night. As far as peels go, I picked up the AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution ($7.20), which seemed to be best for acne prone skin without lots of aging. For serums and treatments, I also chose Advanced Retinoid 2% ($9.80), “Buffet” ($14.80), and Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% ($12.90).

The fact that the most expensive thing was not even $15 is still way too exciting for me. Seriously, try getting a luxury peel for that price, and that isn’t a sample size, at Sephora. Ain’t gonna happen.

My Deciem ‘The Ordinary’ First Impressions

So far, I’m honestly enjoying all of these products. I haven’t had a single bad reaction to anything, even the peel! I’m still getting used to layering serums and using different formulations, so there’s a bit of a learning curve. I’m getting used to how the Buffet, which is a peptide, feels on my skin. It can feel a little sticky, but once I’ve put moisturizer on top of it there’s no texture. I have worn makeup every day since first getting them, so I’ll have to see how it wears when I don’t have makeup on top of it.

I can already see my skin clearing more and more thanks to the peel, and what few lines I do have are fading nicely thanks to the Retinoid, which is also only used at night. The Ascorbyl Glucoside (a form of Vitamin C, the most effective form actually), is helping clear any redness and spotting, as well as fading acne scars!

After more time I’ll absolutely do a check in, but my skin is responding well. With the frankly crappy shape my skin was in before, it’s going to take some time and maybe more experimenting to really see progress, but I have high hopes for The Ordinary to do the extraordinary for my skin.

Check out other products I’ve been loving in my July beauty faves! Let me know in the comments what products you’ve been wanting to try!

I’ve heard such good things about ‘the ordinary’ products, i keep meaning to buy some but all the technical terms put me off slightly and im scared i might get the wrong one, but i have terrible acne prone skin.

The technical terms can be scary, but they explain really well in the descriptions what they’re for, and the customer service is bomb and help people pick the best products for them!

The Ordinary have been plastered all over my Instagram and twitter feeds for what feels like forever! I can’t believe that they’re so affordable given that they seem so high-end.

I was so surprised too! But I’m honestly so thrilled they’re affordable, I think that’s something that the skincare industry needs to work on more.
