Ways to Fill a Notebook

As far as stationary goes, notebooks are one of those things that are incredibly easy to collect. So many are so gorgeous, and they give us a feeling of productivity and organization. Seriously, one of the easiest ways to feel like you have your shit together is get a new notebook. It’s a blank slate, a new start, and the world is your oyster. But sometimes, we just collect so many that we don’t know what to do with all of them. We buy them because they’re on sale, because “what if I finish mine?”, or because we think we’ll use it one day.

Here’s the thing: I am a crazy notebook person. I am also one of those people who loves to over-engineer my organizational systems. So I have a bunch of notebooks, but I also have a lot of uses for them. Here are some easy ways to fill a notebook.

General

  • Lists
  • Journal
  • Art journal
  • Gratitude
  • Bullet journal
  • Recipe notebook
  • Topics you’re interested in (like learning a language)
  • Mental health journaling
  • Quote journal
  • Sketchbook
  • Brain dump
  • Free association (just free writing, whatever comes to mind- a great therapeutic technique!)

Blogging

  • Campaign ideas- if you’re trying to create challenges, projects, etc
  • Blog post ideas
  • Wishlists
  • To do lists
  • Blogging tracker/journal- especially if this is a source of income
  • Research- again, great if this is a job

Spirituality

  • Dream journal
  • Meditation notebook
  • Spellbook
  • Book of Shadows- magical information
  • Book of Mirrors- like a magical journal (many pagans and witches define a BOS and a BOM differently, this is just how I differentiate)
  • Synchronicities
  • Channelings
  • Shadow work
  • Inner child healing
  • Tarot journal
  • Tarot readings- good if you read for clients or for the same people
  • Tarot spreads
  • Journal for individual decks- this is excellent if you’re having a hard time relating to a particular deck

These are just a few ways to fill a notebook that you may have lying around, and I use many, if not most, of these myself. What are some creative ways you fill notebooks?

HI Kaelin! I found this post very useful. I’m the kind of person who is always buying new notebooks and afterwards I don’t know what to do with them! I think I’ll use one for planning future blog posts.
    Cheers,
    Norma
